North American Water Garden Society
NAWGS is "an organization of pond lovers dedicated to the enjoyment, education, promotion and protections of the water garden hobby."  The Colorado Chapter resumes meeting in April.  Here's a rundown of what's coming in 2010.

Optional in April True Pump & Equipment will be holding a class building a rainwater harvesting system in Franktown. Contact them for time at 303-744-3505.
 
April 12 (Meeting in Castle Rock Library)

Pizza night (club buys food and drinks). Open discussion on spring start-up issues, demo of the new string-algae control mechanism, how to add a wetland bog for filtration or additional planter pockets, water quality testing equipments, and Q&A on any subject on your mind. Please bring your list of good websites and vendors for purchasing pond supplies, plants and fish. Reminder to bring own molds to next meeting to make hyper-tufa gardens and lilies to divide, and that it will be a two-part meeting on separate days one week apart. (Club buys water test strips for members to share.)
 
May 10 & 16 (Monday) at 6 p.m. and 16 (Sunday) at 2 p.m (Franktown)

Making hypertufa gardens for the pond's edge. (Club buys materials.) On the 16th we will finish the pots, have a demonstration by Bud about how he built the greenhouse on site, and show you how to divide lilies.

Supplies you need to bring Monday include: An old-fashioned wash basin as the mold for a miniature garden or chicken wire if you want to make a fake hollow rock; (wash basins available for purchase at $20 that you can keep to make other gardens); gloves. Plan for cool weather and to get dirty.
 
June 14 (Meeting in Castle Rock Library) Guest Speaker; member plant swap and plants to sell.
 
June 27 Field trip to Hudson Garden in Littleton at 6115 South Santa Fe Drive. Meet there at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
 
July 12 (Meeting in Castle Rock Library) Roundtable discussion on what's happening with our ponds.
 
August 8 (Meet at homes to have a progressive picnic and view ponds on Sunday at 11 a.m.)

Ponds to be determined. Progressive picnic - Each homeowner will serve hors d' oeuvres and drinks.
 
September 13 (Pegasus on the Plub Restaurant in Castle Rock 3-688-6746)
Dinner social at 6:30 p.m. (Club buys dinner.) Q&A and discussion on fall shut-down and winterization; salting; feeding fish; use of water treatment products. Election for next year's board members.
