What's New at BR&D Landscape?

New for 2006:

  • NAWGS: A new local chapter of the North American Water Garden Society has just been launched for the South Denver and Colorado Springs area. NAWGS, as it is known, was created at the national level to help promote and protect the water gardening hobby, and to unite the various water garden enthusiasts for the enjoyment of the hobby. They will lobby for us at a national or local level if issues come up such as the drought where various agencies may want to shut down our ponds, and they are also supporting research on things like koi herpes virus. See more at the national website www.nawgs.org. The meetings are the second Monday of each month from March through October at the Castle Rock Library. The library is located on the east side of Wilcox just north of the Plum Creek Parkway. We have powerpoint presentations on pond ecology, Fish 101, Plants 101, and such, and we also have a raffle and serve light refreshments. Come join in the fun!

  • Koi Prices: Due to a new supplier, we have been able to reduce our koi prices. See our Pond Supply Product Price List.

  • Water Garden Excellence: BR&D is now a member of the Water Garden Excellence program. We will be conducting seminars at Arapahoe Acres on topics such as cleaning your pond, planting plants, koi health, and even building your own pond. Call Arapahoe Acres directly for their schedule of events at 303-791-1660.

  • Class at Denver Botanic Gardens: On Saturday, July 29th, Bud Kiebler, Certified Aquascape Contractor and owner of BR&D, will be teaching a class on "thinking about a water feature--pros and cons of various types." Contact the Denver Botanic Gardens directly to sign up for the class. Their number is 720-865-3580 and website is www.botanicgardens.org. The course number is 06SLL595.

  • Newsletters: Check out the Education & Resources page for our latest newsletter.

  • Magalog: Have you received our Pond Product magalog? It's mailed several times a year, and you can order any pond product and have it direct-shipped to your address. It's professionally produced and looks like a magazine, so be looking for it. If you haven't received one yet, please Click Here to request one or call our office.

  • Environmental pond assessment: We now have a Molecular Biologist on staff who is available to come to your pond to conduct environmental pond assessments. If you have any environmental, water, or other pond problems that you can't solve, let us do an assessment and make some observations for you. Zach K.--Have microscope, will travel (within the Denver area).

  • Colorado Parade of Ponds: Tickets for the 2006 tour will be on sale soon. Early-bird ticket prices are $10 in July and regular ticket prices are $15 in August. We have several new ticket outlets and the full list can be seen on the Parade of Ponds page.

  • Parade of Ponds Bus Tour: True Pump & Equipment, Inc. is again offering an air-conditioned bus tour which also includes lunch. The ticket price has increased slightly to $20 but is well worth it to relax and use their gas. They usually go to about a dozen ponds and that is the only way to see the ponds in Castle Pines Village. Last year they ran two buses and they fill up fast on a first-come, first-serve basis on whose purchased their tickets. In order to ensure a spot, call them now at 303-744-3505. You must also purchase the regular tour ticket separately, but they will have them on sale in July.

  • Our new office manager is Cathleen E. You're going to be very impressed on her efficiency and thoroughness. We feel this is a very positive change and one that is so important to our valued customers.
