“Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay”

“Sittin’-on-the-Dock-of-the-Bay”

So here I go aging myself again. I know you have all heard the song “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” written and originally recorded by Otis Redding in August of 1967. Since then this timeless song has been recorded by everyone from Cher to Willie Nelson and Michael Bolton not to mention performed by countless others. Redding’s silky smooth vocals sing, “I left my home in Georgia, headed for the Frisco Bay”, “sitt’n on the dock of the bay, watch’n the tide roll away.” The sounds of waves and seagulls are heard in the background and finally the song fades off into the distance with a clear crisp whistle of the tune.

The sounds of this tune remind me of sitting by a pond in the evening, hearing the sounds of the water, birds coming to drink at the water’s edge by my own private oasis. If I sit very still and listen only to what is within 20 feet of me, the crazy clock-controlled world fades away into silence and the life of the earth presents itself for me to hear.

When you go in your back yard, what do you hear? What do you smell? What do you see? Do you have your oasis? Can you close your eyes and have the day’s pressure slowly ebb away from you? Would you be at peace in this place? What do you envision that needs to happen for you to create that space?

This is our dream for you. This is what is at the end of our magic wand for you. We want to give you that feeling of “sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watch’n the tide roll away.”

It’s hard to imagine a more efficient, thoughtful, and responsive team than BR and D Landscape. We had a “landscaping emergency” with an event moved to our yard unexpectedly. It was last minute, and BR and D was booking two months in the future, but when Bev and Brett heard our situation they came to our rescue and within a couple days had our yard beautifully landscaped and prepared for the big event. Not only that, though, their crew – including Brett himself – was polite, neat, and incredibly hard-working. They put in 10 hour days without more than a few minutes for lunch to get the job done in time for the crowd to arrive. We couldn’t have done it without them, and we won’t do any other yard/landscape work without them in the future. They are wonderful, and we are grateful to them.
